Somebody's Trash is Another's Treasure....

This being Labor Day weekend, my hubby Mr. J and I had a fun "date" day.  He got to sleep in after working hard all day...so at 8 AM I got out with my black lab "Blairsy" on our usual morning walk before the day gets too hot.

There have been a lot of garage sales lately...so just around the corner, a neighbor had a wonderful sale in her front yard... This is my unexpected treasure trove of goodies I bought...

A travel dog water pouch... 25 cents!!!
Vintage mid-century cards....so cute...all these for about a dollar!
A nice Kleenex box holder for $1 (for our NorCal home).
A straw hat for walking in sunny SoCal....$1..
Last but not least...my weakness...Snoopy Hallmark ornaments... from 2006...Hallmark doesn't make ornaments as nice as these anymore.... $5 each (retail in 2006 for $12), probably worth more on EBay...
I couldn't resist...I love small cute Snoopy things...

The best "find" of all was meeting my neighbor who owned a .....Guide Dog!  A yellow lab named Walt...just three years old and so friendly.  My neighbor has been blind for about 10 years.  Since receiving Walt, her life opened up. When she was using a cane during her early sight-impaired days, people used to ignore her or treat her differently, but now with Walt, my neighbor says that people approach her "normally", are friendly, and they initiate conversations.

We then went to Portos...a wonderful bustling Cuban bakery, http://www.yelp.com/biz/portos-bakery-glendale and then explored the local Goodwills. Just plain simple fun!
