The Smart Phone???

Aaargh!! My patience is tested by God everyday! Just when I pat myself on the back and tell myself how patient I have become after 50+ years...something new always comes along that God brings to the table! God gave me the desire to learn, and I should be thankful, because it keeps me on my toes.

Like it or not, my son introduced the smart phone to me. It was justified because our family would be on a cheaper phone plan. Why do they call it "smart phone"?  It just makes me feel stupid and slow - ha ha! It's hard enough to answer a phone call...it has taken me several tries!!! So if my friends have a hard time getting a hold of me lately, they now know why!

Surprise on the morning walk...

I'm not a "techie"...my family can attest to that!  Our daughter is the family photographer...she usually has a camera ready. However, I am grateful that because of our kids I usually get motivated, somewhat later than most into the "real world"...i.e., the internet, cell phones, to texting, to smart phones, etc... To their credit, I learned and got inspired to blog from them!

The same goes with cameras...I fumble and grumble with the little thing. I took Photoshop, but probably will take it again as I am learning to take more photos... Anyway, back to topic... So I was taking Blair on our usual morning walk...this time on a nice walking trail nearby...

Somebody's Trash is Another's Treasure....

This being Labor Day weekend, my hubby Mr. J and I had a fun "date" day.  He got to sleep in after working hard all day...so at 8 AM I got out with my black lab "Blairsy" on our usual morning walk before the day gets too hot.

There have been a lot of garage sales lately...so just around the corner, a neighbor had a wonderful sale in her front yard... This is my unexpected treasure trove of goodies I bought...

A little gem...

I was reading my daily "One Year Bible" the other day...Once in a while, a "jewel of a Scripture" pops out in my reading that prompts me to ponder and treasure in my heart. (Luke 2:19 -"But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.")

Anyway today in my One-Year Bible I read....

Morning stroll....

Most mornings, I walk with Blair, my female black lab, up and down Old Town.  Here is the beginning of our one-mile loop. Blair is in front of the Monrovia Public Library...(the city shot fireworks off the roof on the Fourth of July!)  Note the banner in the background honoring Kim Rhode, USA's Skeet Shooting female champion, a resident of this town. She earned consecutive medals in her sport for five straight Olympics.  She was honored last Sunday right here.

SoCal Cottage...

Here are some photos of our one-room studio in Socal, near Pasadena...It's cozy! In back of the charming home of our wonderful landlady. The grounds are immaculate, with green lawns, fig tree, grapefruit, lemon, and orange trees. Hibiscus. Vegetable garden, grape arbour. Very peaceful. Feels like Hawaii !

A Year in the Life of....February 2012 to July 2012

OK, so it's been a long time since I've posted...The last time I blogged was back in February...but a lot of unforeseen events have taken place...but amazingly, I think this has been all deliberately and lovingly arranged by God, as all of these things have been surprising blessings...but my, oh my, what changes!

A Belated Valentine's Celebration....

Valentine's Day!  I know - it's February 19 now.  Many people call Valentine's Day a "Hallmark Holiday," meaning that to them, it is a very commercialized holiday with cards, gifts, candy, roses, etc.
I still think Valentine's Day is one of my very favorite holidays!  I used to deliver flowers for a local flower shop, and loved delivering van-loads of beautiful flowers to happy people.
